Sebacic acid is a dicarboxylic acid with chemical formula HO2C(CH2)8CO2H. It is used to synthesize nylons and polyesters. It can act as a pH corrector in cosmetic products. Sebacic acid is also used in lubricants and hydraulic fluids where it acts as a corrosion retardant.
