Vitamin E, as the free alcohol tocopherol, is unstable and is protected with the acetate group to increase stability. D-alpha-tocopheryl acetate is rapidly converted to D-alpha-tocopherol in the body.

Vitamin E is a fat soluble compound known for its antioxidant properties and is often found in skin care products and dietary supplements. The antioxidant properties help protect the body from damaging free radicals. Vitamin E enhances moisturization, strengthens the skin barrier and may also have an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin.
